Five Cleaning Tips for Busy Moms
There are lots of ways busy moms cut back on the cleaning chores but still keep a nice house. Here are five popular cleaning tips that the busiest moms find useful.
Paper Plate Takeout Night
This is best for the busiest evening of the week. Make this dinner night completely disposable so no dishes or pots and pans need to be cleaned and put away. Make sure everyone understands that if you make a mess, you will be cleaning it up yourself. When you order takeout for delivery or pickup, make sure you tell them you need paper plates, napkins, and disposable cutlery.
Give Cleanup Chores to the Kids
You have to assign tasks according to age and ability. After you hold them responsible for a week, it really does get easier than trying to do it all yourself. Hold them responsible for messes and clutter. Do not waver, and be sure to carry out punishments such as taking away privileges. Once they see you are serious, a lot of busy work with cleaning up needless messes evaporates.
Make It Easy to Put Things Away
Closet organizers, plastic storage containers that fit under the bed, recycling or donating things that are never used, and just having a place for everything really does help. If there is no assigned place for everything that comes into the house, it can end up anywhere. This includes things such as the mail, hats, jackets, gloves, and shoes. Assign a place for everything, and insist it is returned after use.
Invest in Helpful Tools
A duster is quicker than using a rag and polish. Disinfecting wipes are handier than a spray and paper towels. Keeping cleaning supplies needed for each floor of the home is helpful too. Buying a vacuum cleaner for each floor saves a lot of time and effort of lugging one up and down stairs. If cleaning overall just isn’t your thing, skip the tools and start using a company like Handy’s home cleaning services. You can schedule professional cleaners with the click of a button and have them come for a cleaning the next day. Think what you can do with all that extra time!
Organize Laundry Day Better
This is where everyone is responsible for at least putting their own laundry away. Even young children can do this. You can even have kids and spouses fold their laundry, but this can present a wrinkling problem if they cannot get to it right away. If you leave their laundry out to be put away, do not leave it in a basket. Instead, put it on the bed so it has to be put away before bedtime.

I know what you mean Lauren! Paper plates are huge around here too! We’ve started doing chores around here too but haven’t asked our big boy to do dishes yet. Maybe we need to start this asap! 😉
